Everyone Needs a Dietitian

I was having a conversation with an OBGYN physician at a physicians retreat recently and she said the best quote I had to pass on... "everyone needs a dietitian in their pocket." We were talking about the usual, for an RD that is, what is the best food to have for breakfast, is soy really ok to eat, is it bad if my kid has honey nut cheerios for breakfast everyday. Like I said, a typical question and answer session for an RD.

It's true. Dietitians have so much evidence based knowledge to share and to help filter out the foods and products that are in it for the marketing not the health. And we can be there to support you in your attempts to reach a healthy you by helping you navigate the food aisles. I mean, the last time I was at the store and I looked at the "bar" section, even I got overwhelmed! SO many food choices out there, we are there to help.

My friend once said: "I feel like I have a mini you on my shoulder whispering in my ear when I am grocery shopping... oh that's high in fiber, good choice!"

It's true. A simple conversation about fiber can turn into a conversation about marketing for fiber bars vs. whole foods fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. I love doing grocery shopping tours with clients, it is so hands on in that process of trying to figure out what is the best choice. For you, for your family.

I am here for you, if you want a personal dietitian - let's meet up: in my office, at the store, wherever you are most comfortable and let's get you on your way. I am here for you!
